Photos: Yahoo! News - Building Collapse in Manila: Filipino building inspectors don’t take bribes. Oh, no. “Electric cables burst into flames as an eight-story office building which was leaning precariously for days in one of Manila’s busy commercial districts, collapses Friday July 23, 2004, hours after occupants fled in panic following creaking sounds and bursting water pipes. No injuries were reported but the incident damaged another building across the street.”
Lean on me, when you’re not strong.

USA: CNN.com - Meat hook dangling craze mystifies police - Jul 18, 2004: “A U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman said on Sunday that the Monroe County sheriff’s office and Coast Guard were called on July 12 to the sandbar off Whale Harbor in Islamorada [Florida] where locals say wild behavior is becoming a tradition. A young woman, her feet brushing the surface of the shallow water, dangled from the frame, hooks embedded firmly in her shoulders.”

USA: CNN.com - Four drown at Fort Worth water park - Jun 17, 2004: Stupid Baptists can’t read signs. “A little girl either jumped or fell into the pool at the Fort Worth Water Gardens, across the street from the Fort Worth Convention Center, and the others apparently died trying to save her. Officials said that suction from a pump that pulls water to a waterfall at the park made rescues difficult.
All four were members of a Chicago church in town for a National Baptist Sunday School convention, said the Rev. Gerald M. Dew, the church’s pastor.”

USA: Yahoo! News - Drilling Finds Crater Beneath Va. Bay: “From the depths came jumbled, mixed bits of crystalline and melted rock that can be dated, as well as marine deposits, brine and other evidence of an ancient comet or asteroid that slammed into once-shallow waters near the Delmarva Peninsula.
Cape Charles is considered Ground Zero for the resulting 56-mile-wide depression below what’s now the Chesapeake Bay. The drilling project marks the first time the geologists explored the inner portion of the inverted-sombrero-shaped crater.”
