While Verizon is backing <a ref="http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080515-verizon-picks-linuxbut-not-androidfor-mobile-platform.html" rel="nofollow">a rival mobile Linux spec</a>, I could also see Verizon embracing Android if the company loses ground to the 3G iPhone. I missed this excellent discussion about Verizon and its possible response to Android when i wrote my article.
