Mayor Mufi Hannemann was in South Korea when the earthquake hit the state on Sunday morning.

He returned to the island and held a press conference yesterday, where he asserted that the city and county’s emergency plan worked well. Most of the traffic signals have been repaired, although some signal controls were damaged when HECO shut down electrical power across the entire island.

Councilmen Todd Apo Charles Djou did note that we were lucky that the earthquake hit at 7 on a Sunday morning.
