The “Best Damn Sports Show Period” has him lined up for a guest spot today. Suddenly, Lou Piniella is a wanted man. People want to know how the Devil Rays have won 12 consecutive games, the longest winning streak in the majors this season and seemingly a million wins from where the Rays usually are at this time of summer. Piniella enjoys the recognition for the franchise, but hopes the increased attention doesn’t affect the way the Rays are playing. “It’s good for our organization. Is it good for our team?” Piniella asked Tuesday. “We have been rather anonymous with very little disturbance. It’s probably better for us that way. But as far as the organization and a nice little story for Major League Baseball, I think it’s good in that way. ”
